Many people wonder what the best diet is to lose some weight. There are loads of diets out there. Where you may have seen celebrities following a specific diet or talk in the media. Even numerous diet shows that come around every January and February time. Some diets are things like clean eating, slimming clubs, intermittent fasting, and low carbohydrate diets like ketogenic.

Is there a best diet? Unfortunately, there is no one best diet, at least for everyone who wants to improve their nutrition. Think about it if there was we would all be following it. We would all see great progress from going on the diet.

So if there is no one best diet then what? Well, what you need is to find a diet or approach to dieting that fits you, your lifestyle, your work schedule, and all the other commitments in your life. Because in order for a diet to work you need to be able to stick to it for long enough. So that you see the results you want to see and it will help to keep you motivated to keep going.

There are some things to look for that can make the dieting process easier. From the foods, we eat down to our mindset as it ties into our relationship with food. Because we should aim to have a good relationship with food. Some of these methods we will go into in this blog.

What I would recommend is

Following a diet that contains all the foods that you like. Because would you enjoy forcing yourself to eat foods you do not like the taste of because they are “healthy”? If you are eating and drinking in a way that you enjoy it will make the whole process much easier.

Make sure your diet has plenty of nutrients. Protein is one of the most important nutrients to look at within your diet. Most people do not consume enough at least initially. This will help to make it easier for you because you will feel more satisfied and it’s also great for general health. Have you ever tried eating a lot of lean meats, dairy, eggs, and fish? It’s hard because it fills you up. Then ensure you are eating plenty of fibre to help to keep you full because not enough people consume enough foods such as fruit and vegetables. Ensure you are getting a variety of vitamins and minerals for general health.

Stick to a diet long enough to begin to see changes in what you see in the mirror and how you feel day to day. As it’s pretty common to start a diet, then after 3 weeks, not see much change then give it either because the weight has gone down for a couple of weeks then fluctuated slightly on the third week. Then think what am I doing wrong? Normally, you need to give it longer than a few weeks. Instead look at 2 – 3 months, 6 months because we can overestimate what we can achieve short term but underestimate what we can achieve longer-term.

Your diet should be inclusive rather than excluding foods because they are not “healthy”. Remember it is more than ok to have some “junk” foods. Also don’t use terms like “bad”, or “good” foods because we will associate this with feelings of guilt in our mindset which can then cause overeating.

So although there is no one best diet for all. There are some things to consider in your own life before deciding what dietary method to follow. As well as certain things within your diet to make your health and fitness journey easier.
